My Life is Never Dull!

So! Every time I think I may update this here blog, I get side tracked with the many things that happen in my life…Numero Uno being laundry. It does not end!!! Not that you ladies need to be reminded, I’m sure!! 😀

I’m just so happy today!! I woke up this morning and put my armor on. (Thank you, Lord for the reminder). Another reason I could jump up and down (except I won’t because my shins hurt, haha) is that I ran 4 miles! What?! I’ve never run that far in my life! I’m super excited! Daddy is teaching me how to walk in love and it’s a humbling but awesome experience! There’s so much joy in NOT getting angry with someone and you’re just happier! I ran out of gas a couple weeks ago. Instead of getting angry that it’s after 9 p.m. and I have my three kids in the car, and I can’t get W to help me because he went camping that night, I was thankful that a policeman came up behind me (although made me nervous at first…any other time a police officer was behind me, I was getting in trouble! ha) and sat with me until my friend brought me gas. I sat there 20 minutes. Maybe. If he wasn’t able to get to me, I could call me parents. Daddy, always protects, always guides. I was also thankful I didn’t take the interstate that night! I almost did. Then a couple days later, I’m standing in line at Walmart to get some groceries. The man behind me had a 2 liter Dr. Pepper and as I was paying for my stuff, it tipped over and started spraying my feet. So the cashier says “oh, is it leaking?” Picks it up and sprays directly at me 🙂 At least it was a good flavor although I don’t drink much soda anymore.

I’ve been trying to run every other day to get ready for the “Mud Run” June 8th. The first two miles are NOT fun! After that, though, it’s pretty easy (at least it felt easier). Then there’s a color run in Sept some time where you wear a white tshirt and they throw colors on you as you run. It sounds so fun! So I’m excited about that.

I’ve also been dabbling in making some jewelry. I found a new style called steam punk that incorporates Victorian with gears, etc. Image

Some have some pretty green jewels, wings and tons of other things. I have a new fascination with keys 🙂 And I like my dandy little earring holder display. I need to make a bigger one for all of mine!

We took away Lacey’s pacifier. That has been an ordeal. Taking naps has become a little more difficult. When she does fall asleep, she doesn’t sleep as long. Making my window for accomplishing things at nap time much smaller. Who needs to mop the floors anyway?

Excited for May 17th! Who knew I would be a Trekkie when I grew up 🙂 Next Generation being the best of course. Been re-watching all the episodes. I find it interesting that the show came out when I was two 🙂 But I’m a Daddy’s girl, e’er go a sci-fi fan 🙂 Yes, I like Star Wars too. And all the superhero movies 🙂

Am I really going to be 28 this year? We’ve also got a Belize trip coming this summer. I don’t know if I’ll be able to go this time. Hopefully I will 🙂 I know, I still need to post the days I haven’t yet. I’ll get on that…maybe 🙂

I’m excited about the things happening in our lives. God is always good. His love never fails!

See you next time 🙂

Ok, I’m not gonna lie. I’m a little proud of myself for coming up with this. In “researching” Valentine’s Day boxes for Noah, I found all kinds. They even had a Minion one from Despicable Me which was just awesome. I was ready to do that had he asked. Of all the ideas I put across to him, he wanted a Ninja Turtle box. There were no pictures of those!!! So this is what I came up with:

Pretty cool right? Wait til you see the back!

I had no idea it was going to turn out as good as it did. (What’ya think Grams?) Am I sounding a little boastful? Not intentionally! I promise, haha. I was surprised! All I had was some construction paper and crayons (and this cool triple tip marker that had three different browns on it…don’t know where it came from). So!! There he is. We’ll see if I’m able to top that next year. Who knows what cartoon or hero Noah will be into by then :). Here were his Valentines:

I mean, Penguins of Madagascar are cool and all, but I felt like they need a little *OOmph*. I can’t take credit for these though. They were a free printable from It’s Written on the Wall (

A little bit of this….A little bit of that….

Sheen Anderson inspired me to write a blog today. 🙂 Thanks, Sheena! 🙂 And the inspiration for the title?…Wait for it…..Fiddler on the Roof! Yep, I can hear the song playing in my brain right now.

So… life has been happening and a lot!! While Dubs (the Hubs, haha) is working part time, ministering, taking school classes and spending time with the fam (busy man!), I keep kids, take mine to school, pick up more kids after school (it’s only six, including mine, but it feels like a lot sometimes!) try to keep a clean house (notice I said “try” :D), trying to eat healthy, and every couple hours at that!, exercise and keep up with W. It’s a lot. At least this morning it definitely felt like a lot! None of that is meant for me to sound whiny. I’m thankful that my hubby gives me time to exercise away from the kids when he gets home after working. I’m thankful that I’m able to stay at home with my kids and do what I’m meant to do. Suffice it to say that the enemy is always trying to edge his way into your life. This morning he definitely tried! Phil 4:8 says “whatever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report: if there be any virtue and praise (in these things) think on THEM! I felt pretty selfish this morning after being in such a terrible mood. I sat down and started thinking of my husband and the love he has for me and the patience (I mean, whoa!). The bad mood left. The Word ALWAYS stands true. Even thinking about the scripture (which is true, honest, pure and of good report and definitely full of virtue!) is better than thinking about myself! After speaking with my Daddy this morning and giving him my cares I felt loads better!

I would also just like say how proud I am of my husband! He was asked to preach last night and he delivered! Several people have said it was his best sermon yet and I agree! It’s been a blessing to see him grow spiritually and know that he is our spiritual leader. And he’s all mine 😀 I’m not always very good about remembering a sermon..or even most of one (no offense Bro. Jerrel :D) It’s not for lack of listening or paying attention. BUT I remember a good bit of his last night.

I also learned how to make musical notes while typing, haha. It’s the small things, people. ♪ ♫ aren’t they cute? ♫ ♫ ♪

I’ve got lots of projects coming up! Finally brought all my sewing stuff upstairs (minus the shelf I need to paint). Once the desk is painted (which has already been brought upstairs because I’ll be getting a different one to paint) and the shelf, I’ll have a matching set! But while that’s waiting, I can start sewing some things so I’m pretty excited. Also going to be working on Valentines for the Noah boy today! They’re due tomorrow (nothing like waiting until the last minute!) At least I bought them a couple weeks ago, that’s a step in the right direction!

I haven’t forgotten about my Belize posts that I have left. I will be doing those soon as well! The life of a minister’s wife is never dull! And I’m pretty happy about that!

Here’s some photos of the little rascals today at lunch:

On the menu was grilled cheese 🙂 One of their favorites.

Jack let me take several pictures (big surprise there! haha). This was one of my favorites. Apparently he has a runny nose 🙂

And this little guy…he’s difficult to get a picture of sometimes. I had to be sneaky to get this one!!

Thanks for reading, stay tuned 🙂

A Peek at My Daddy’s Heart

Wow! So it’s been a little while since I’ve posted. Sorry about that. Blogging is a bit of a hobby for me and sometimes hobbies take a backseat to the things that are most important. Boy, have I been busy!

Today has been a fantastic day! A bit of an emotional roller coaster. Not a whole bunch of loopdy loops or anything like that, just a couple of small hills. I overslept this morning (not terribly uncommon for me). I always intend to be on time…but it doesn’t always happen. Seldom even. I’m working on that. Most Sundays are frustrating. I am usually in a bad mood by the time I get the kids in the car and am rushing to the church. Since I woke up late, I just decided to take my time getting ready. I knew I would be late for Sunday School or even miss it (which is a bit of a bummer because my teacher is fabtastic) but I decided that if rushing around to get ready was going to put me in a bad mood, I wouldn’t do it. There’s no point. While we should be worshipful every day, it’s still Sunday so I decided the devil just wasn’t going to have it. It was my team rotation for praise band this morning. We sang one of my favorite songs “I Know Who I Am”. I know who I am in Christ. I pray he works on me daily to remind me that I am perfect in and only in Him. That HE is my identity. Not a stay at home mom, or a wife, daughter, sister or friend. Those are all pieces of my identity.

My pastor really slammed it into the park today. I love it. I love hearing the Word and it coming alive to me. I love hearing from my Daddy and knowing the things he tells me are for my good even if I don’t want to hear them. He wouldn’t love me otherwise. I’m just going to warn you that this may be long. I apologize but yet I don’t. Hopefully it will bless you and be something you needed to hear (or read 🙂 Pastor spoke about redeeming the time. Tomorrow is the last day of 2012. Most people, including myself, have nothing to show for the year of 2012 or 2011 and it could go on. Redeeming the time, buying it back, rescuing it from loss. Where am I right now in my spiritual walk? Some people would say they had a lot of success this year. Success is something that can only be determined in God’s eyes. Some people have failure because they have success in the wrong areas of their life. Are my goals God-given? Something to think about. I can’t remember the exact number but he said some 95% of New Year’s resolutions have to do with losing weight and smoking. Some people write their resolutions on a paper and leave it in their desk, or throw it away. Most don’t write them down at all. He gave us a spiritual test. Pastor said he failed. I know I failed. It’s tough answering these questions truthfully. 7 “Firsts”. Things that should be done before others things. Do we do them? And do we do them first? Scripture Eph 5:14-21 (NIV) “for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’ 15. Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, 16. making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the spirit. 19. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20. always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21. Submit one to another out of reverence for Christ.”

The Firsts:

1. Our relationship with God and people (vs. 19-21). Our relationship with God is the most important. But we shouldn’t let relationships with those around us fall to the wayside. Our friends and family need encouragement. I look up to my husband’s ability to just start speaking the Word. Knowing what to say to someone. This is done by having a relationship with Christ and listening to the Spirit. Not of my husband’s doing. He is just the vessel.

2. Hearing with your Spirit man. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the (revealed) Word of God.” – Rom 10:17. It’s not about just hearing like listening to me talk to you. But by God revealing His Word to your spirit. I feel like He did that for me today. Like I heard directly from him. Criticism isn’t always easy to take. 🙂 Nor is it easy coming from your Daddy, but He loves you so much! How could you be upset with someone for loving you? Heb 2:1-4 (NIV) “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3. how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the ord, was confirmed to us by those who HEARD him. 4. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”

3. Kingdom. There was a professor (most of you have heard this I’m sure). He picked up a glass jar and filled it with large stones. He asked his class “Is this jar full”? “Of course” they answered. The professor picked up a bag of small rocks and poured it in the jar. They filled in the large holes that the stones had not filled. He then asked if it was full again. The students figured out what he was doing and said “No”. He told them they were correct and proceeded to pick up a bag of sand and pour it into the jar. The sand seeped past all the small cracks left by the small rocks. Again, the class said the jar was not full. So he picked up a glass of water and poured the entire thing into the jar. The class asked him what the point of this exercise was. He told them, the stones are the foundation of our life. Our relationship with God, the Word, family, etc. If you don’t put the stones in first, the rocks, sand and water will take up all the space and you’ll never fit them in there. Matt 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.

4. Virtue. Wow, this was a good one! My friend’s study Bible described virtue and moral excellence (also known as “goodness” in the NIV). What a great way to put that! God will give ME HIS virtue. I just need to receive it. II Peter 1: 4-5  says “Through these He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness (virtue); and to goodness (virtue), knowledge. The rest of those go on to say “and to knowledge, self control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love”. Ohhhh, this verse 8 is GOOD! For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

5. Honor. Prov 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding”. Honor the Lord with substance and first fruits.

6. Submission – to the Lord. The Lord took Jeremiah to a potter. The piece was marred in the Potter’s hand. The potter could have made something different. The clay was not submissive to his hands. He could have beaten it and kneaded it into what he intended. He could have thrown it away. He could have put it on a shelf never to be used again. If we don’t submit to God, we run the risk of Him saying “I can’t use you anymore. You’re not worth being in my hands”. I could not imagine not being in my Daddy’s hands. He has taken such good care of me.

7. Last but definitely not least. Learn to let it go. Phil 3:13 “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Most people (including myself) usually live in the past or the future. We let things that have happened dictate what we do. We should not do things based on our circumstances but based on what is true in the Word. I have let bitterness dictate how I live and react to situations. As much as my Daddy loves me, I have no reason to be bitter. I need to forgives. Bitterness is regret over something that happens in the past. Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. Ouch! If that wasn’t a slap in the face. This one really hit home for me. God won’t remember any of that stuff so why should we hold on to it? God is “I AM”, not “I was” or “I will be” but I AM. Man! That’s powerful! A quote from one of Noah’s movies says ” Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present”. Live for today, Live in Christ.

Such a powerful message. If I hold bitterness in my heart, I can not receive the promises of God. My Daddy wants good things for me. I’m HIS daughter.

We had lunch with good friends. Went back to church for discipleship training. It was good too! I’m so thankful for the guidance God has placed in my life. He has used these people to help me grow. So glad their radios are tuned into the Holy Spirit station 🙂 There are radio waves all around us, all over the place. You have to be tuned into the right station to get the right waves. If you feel like you’re not hearing from God, it’s probably not the sender that needs fixing. It’s your receiver. 🙂 I hope this was a blessing to those who read it. If anything, I definitely received a blessing when I heard it!!

The Domino Effect

Day 5 of Mission Belize

We woke up that morning to ham, eggs and some kind of cornmeal cake for breakfast. Breakfast was great every morning there. We left to go for our last day of VBS. About 30 more children accepted Christ. What an awesome way to begin the day! The baby girl who was healed came back with her mama as well.

We were invited back to Pastor Juan and Candilaria’s house for a “Mayan party”. She fixed a huge pot of “Maya Soup”.

The Mayans have these peppers they like to spice up their food with. Again, “mayan peppers” :). They were supposedly really hot. Gregorio told us if we were going to try it, to try very little. They were crushed so they were in powder form. I expected W to try it but he declined so I decided to try some. I put a tiny bit in my soup and couldn’t taste it much (was obviously not enough) so I put a good bit more. They definitely brought some heat! But it wasn’t the same kind of heat as hot sauce. Finally talked W into trying it 🙂

Candy also made homemade tortillas. They didn’t have anything but corn and water in them and they were perfect! Americans are used to “flavoring” things with salt or whatever. So at first I thought they were a little bland but they grew on me, ha. I ate several! Check this out:

How awesome do those look?! They grind the corn and make cornmeal and just add water. Crazy.

Anyway, after our Mayan party, the guys finished up with the side of the church and W played soccer with the boys. Later, Bro. Jerrel, W, and Phillip went to pastor school. Ms. Sue and I decided to play some dominoes while we waited for them. There is something all of you should know….::sigh:: it’s so disappointing to say this, but……

MS. Sue CHEATS! I don’t have any hard incriminating evidence, but I tell you it’s true! Ok, so she won the first game and I won the second. But I think she knew I was onto her and she let me win. It was insane….I won two, TWO! hands in the first game and even the ones I did win, she had very few points. The guys were gone so long we decided to play a second game and were only three hands from finishing when they showed up (there’s 12 hands in a game). We had a great time, though. We would start laughing at nothing and be crying because we were laughing so hard. We can’t even remember what we were laughing at! Ha. We tried to get Max to play but he said he enjoyed watching us more than the game. I can imagine we were comical :).

Once the guys returned, we went over to Gregorio and Flora’s house. She had planned a surprise party for Max’s birthday! How awesome is that?! She had BBQ chicken (which had homemade BBQ sauce and was amazing). She also made a pineapple upside down cake. So good! We had a busy day and ate kind of late so we went to bed stuffed! Ready for church the next day!

“And the Prayer of Faith Shall Save Them”

Day 4 of Mission Belize. Looking back in my journal, I didn’t have very much written about this day. The crazy thing is that the most powerful thing happened that day. We woke up that morning about the same time as usual. For our meal, we had breakfast burritos and more fresh fruit (usually pineapples and watermelon). We got to VBS around 10:30. More children showed up than the day before, following the pattern of previous days. We had some kids that came every day. (Junior and Roy…always smiling. Wish I had pictures of them! I think Ms. Sue does). Then we had other kids that didn’t come back but new ones in their place. Really beautiful children. They would say “Miss! Miss! Please take my picture!” while they were smiling and so excited about something we take for granted with our kids. I don’t know what they were thinking about when we took the picture because they always got so serious!

Then we’d show them what their picture looked like and they would start giggling. At the end of our VBS lesson, W talked about them needing Jesus. Faith like a child. They were so eager and about 40 of them received Christ.  Just before we closed out for the day, a young lady came in with her baby. She was about a year old, I think. The lady had her bundled up (and it was already warm out) and the baby was sweating a lot. She was sick with fever and had been for a day or two. While Ms. Sue and I finished up, the men prayed over the baby.

James 5:14-16 (KJV)

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Mark 16: 17-18

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

This woman asked in faith that her child be prayed over. The lady left with her baby and Bro. Jerrel and the guys worked a little more on the side of the church.

Just before we left (about 30 minutes later) the woman came back. The baby was wide awake and no fever! Praise God for his healing!!

Next Bro. Jerrel took us to go see a river that had flooded because of all the rain that had come in (which was also why it wasn’t 105 degrees when we got there).

The bridge we were sitting on was almost the width of the van. And the water was just a foot or two short from coming up to the bridge. We also drove through another banana plantation. I don’t remember which number it was. But we didn’t tour the thing like we did with Farm 4. There are several, several banana plantations out there.

We went back to camp and Bro. Jerrel and W went to Pastor School. Ms. Sue stayed with Flora and Max, Phillip, and I had empanadas with cherry and oreo cheesecake for dessert! After dinner, Phillip had me teach him mexican train dominoes. We played for a bit then went to bed!

Look at What I Made!!!

So, I decided to try a new recipe for dinner. I like to do that every once in a while. I always underestimate how long it will actually take to do it. You know, the first time you try a new recipe, it always takes longer than planned because you have to go back and keep reading it to make sure you’re doing it correctly. We decided to have Stuffed Shells for dinner. But not just any stuffed shells!! These were MEXICAN stuffed shells. Nico loves mexican (if you cut out all of the peppers and onions. Haha, it’s true! I know, and I like Mexican? I’m eating them more often now, though…trying to get over the pickiness). This is what it looked like:

I found the recipe for it here:

The hubs likes it. The kids didn’t “not” like it. I think it was a little spicy (mental note: use mild salsa next go round). It even had peppers and onions it it! In the salsa anyway 🙂 Hehe.

Lacey wanted some too but I didn’t think it being that spicy, that she should have it. Speaking of Lacey….I decided to fix the boys mac n cheese for lunch. Generally, they have mac n cheese or grilled cheese. Only because they all like it and it just goes easier that way.

See? They all like mac n cheese :). So I start looking for Lacey because I haven’t heard her in a few minutes. The little stinker was under the table, standing at their feet, waiting for them to drop food! Really?!

Who needs a dog when you have Lace (she’s way cuter anyway). She helps me keep my floors cleaner! (I pick up a lot more when she’s crawling around…she finds EVERYTHING!). She really likes mac n cheese too!

No! She didn’t eat it off the floor! I gave her some! She apparently loves marshmallows too 🙂
